Wonderful lessons for young and old- a must have book!

Yes, it met all my expectations! This book was recommended by a friend, and I am so glad I bought it! It is the story of a little boy who loves pancakes, and his mom lets him know the path from the farmer to the rain and sun, to the Miller that grinds the flour that makes his pancakes. The story progresses to show the readers how we can affect the end results of our food. In this world we live in I feel it is so important for us to understand our contribution to the health or sickness of our environment. I don't think a child is too young to be made aware of our amazing environment and of how our actions can impact it. This book opened up new conversations with me and my children. And then to top it off, we had a sweet ending with making our own pancakes!! Good book for fun and a very important lesson! Buy this one now!

Engaging and beautiful with a timely topic

This delightful book captivated my four year old grandson's attention. It provided a springboard for us to talk about how to care for the earth and our food supply. He asked to read it every night he was visiting and we utilized concepts and characters from the book as we ate our meals. What the authors have done is create a beautifully illustrated book with a compelling story that young children can enjoy while at the same time addresses a key issue and how children can be part of the solution. It fosters an attitude of care, gratitude, cooperation, and responsibility in a format that they can easily relate to and enjoy. This is a wonderful contribution to children's books with the added bonus of a first class pancake recipe from a well known chef.
